Dianne Feinstein has served as a United States Senator since 1992. She is the first woman to have been elected to the Senate from the state of California. She is also the longest-serving female Senator in United States history. During her tenure, she has been a leader in many areas, including national security, judicial nominations, and environmental protection. She has sponsored and co-sponsored over 600 pieces of legislation during her time in the Senate. She has also been a leader in the fight for gun safety and has been a vocal advocate for women’s rights. Most recently, she has worked to ensure the rights of Dreamers, undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children, are protected.
